WPI traces its beginnings to 1924 when Louis M. Pearce, Sr. founded the Portable Rotary Rig Company. Nine years later, Pearce became the Texas distributor for Waukesha engines. In 1955 the Pearce Equipment Company was formed to market and service construction machinery with two branches, located in San Antonio and Abilene. When Pearce Equipment Company and Waukesha Sales & Service merged in 1967, the new company was called WPI. New branches and several acquisitions followed. There are now eight offices throughout South and East Texas, and the company is headquartered in Houston, TX.

In 1986 WPI became affiliated with Komatsu. WPI serves many markets that require off-road machinery by providing top quality equipment, which is supported by excellent repair and rebuild facilities, field service capabilities, well trained mechanics and a multimillion dollar parts inventory.

Every branch of WPI offers new, used and rental equipment. The company assures excellent service support with an extensive parts inventory, highly trained service personnel and on-site maintenance to eliminate travel and minimize downtime. Preventive maintenance contracts are offered to help avoid unexpected repairs, and several different financing options are always available.

WPI services all makes and models of equipment. A major service center is located at the Kilgore branch for engine, machine, transmission and hydraulic pumps, valves and cylinder rebuilds.
