Ariel Compressors

Designed to Run, Built to Last

Ariel’s design philosophy revolves around providing customers with a successful, worry-free operation. As a result, Ariel compressors run longer and require minimal maintenance, providing maximum reliability in the field and peace of mind for operators.

Ariel’s wide range of short-stroke, medium-speed reciprocating compressors utilize unlined, non-cooled compressor cylinder technology, representing the latest technology of reciprocating compressors. They are 21st-century reciprocating compressors for downstream applications. With innovative engineering, quality design, and responsive customer service, Ariel compressors are built to last – no matter the application.

Ariel compressors mated to a WPI Waukesha Natural Gas Engine is a perfect marriage providing operational reliability for oil and gas fields, exploration, recovery, and production.

Worthington — The First Was Built to Last.

Worthington introduced its first angle-type engine compressor in 1927 and continued until 1975. Many of these legendary compressors continue to serve faithfully every day.

Compressor Applications We Are Geared For

Upstream Compression

WPI’s upstream compressors are designed to provide operational reliability for the exploration, recovery, and production of underground or underwater oil and gas fields – Ariel compressors enhance production, gathering, or capturing sources of bio-methane.

WPI Upstream Applications

  • Enhanced Oil Recovery
  • Natural Gas and Hydrogen Gathering
  • Air & Nitrogen Injection
  • Landfill (biogas)

Midstream Compression

The oil and gas industry’s midstream sector involves processing, storing, marketing, and transporting crude oil, natural gas, and liquified natural gas. The reliability of Ariel compressors enables midstream processors, pipelines, and storage facilities to meet their delivery commitments.

This sector provides natural gas as a dependable fuel source moving it from production to distribution locations and onto the consumer.

WPI Midstream Applications

  • Pipeline Transmission
  • Gas Storage Injection/Withdrawal
  • Gas Gathering

Downstream Compression

The downstream oil and gas industry sectors apply to the refining and processing oil and natural gas into usable products, including fuels, lubricants, and petrochemicals such as fertilizers, rubbers, and polymers. The downstream market also includes hydrogen production and chemical manufacturing.

WPI Downstream Applications

  • Refining
  • Petrochemical
  • Industrial Gases
  • Hydrogen

Hydrogen

Hydrogen is one of the primary gases used throughout the downstream energy network. The Hydrogen Economy has been discussed for years and is rapidly expanding globally.

Currently, the primary means of hydrogen production is the steam methane reforming of natural gas. Other means of hydrogen production are coal gasification, electrolysis, and renewable liquid reforming. WPI can compress the hydrogen value chain from production to storage, transportation, and vehicle fueling.

Our partner Ariel has decades-long hydrogen compressor experience and hundreds of hydrogen compressors operating worldwide.

  • Pipeline Transmission
  • Gas Storage Injection/Withdrawal
  • Gas Gathering

Natural Gas Compressors are used in several other critical applications:

  • Hydrogen Makeup and Recycle
  • Feed Gas
  • Hydrogen Production
  • Chemical processing
  • Hydrogen Storage
  • Fuel Gas
  • CNG refueling
